Actually, a good idea was brought up here, even though it needs a little bit of rewording to be noticed: On mention of lowering the mass to more frig sized, combined with give it Cruiser HP... modify this to: Give the AF more HP (near cruiser level) and keep it's mass the same to justify it a bit more. It might be a tad extreme going all the way to Cruiser level, but definately give it something more than crap resist bonus to justify the mass increase.
As far as nanoing, a reduction of mass wouldn't be a good idea imo, but there really aren't that many AF's that could be viable in a nano set up.
As far as putting command modules on the ship, it doesn't really make sense due to the training disparity between the two. Basically you can have an AF in under a month, but would take a lot longer to get the command modules on the ship, without adding anything to any other ship progression. This might not make sense to some, but when you think about the progression of combat ships: Frig weapons and skills transfer to AF's AF's specialization transfers up to Cruisers (support skills) and on to HAC's Cruiser/HAC leads up to BC's and the support helps out BS's
The command modules aren't used very often and are really limited to a single ship per race for the most part. While almost a good idea, I don't think it's the role that anyone really wants to use AF's for, and wouldn't make them any more appetizing than they are now, due to the need of a HUGE SP sink into one or two modules.
4th bonus (damage or weapon bonus) make resists hardcoded into the ship give it a role bonus that gets rid of web effects and you'd have a more solid ship that would see more action. maybe buff the HP a little to justify the mass increase as well, and not make it T1 cruiser fodder. HAC's can stand up pretty decent to BC's so I think it would be justified to have AF's stand up to Cruisers as well. or hell, just give it a PG and CPU reduction bonus to medium weapons :p that would fix all the problems right there. www.the-bastards.com |
